Bar & Bat Mitzvah
In Jewish tradition, Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremonies symbolize a child’s transition to adulthood. This coming-of-age milestone marks the time when Jewish youth are expected to become active members of the Jewish community and accept upon themselves the laws and traditions of the Torah.
The Overseas Education Division of KKL-JNF’s Education Department runs a unique Bar and Bat Mitzvah Program that connects Jewish youth from all over the world to their Jewish identity and the land and people of Israel. It emphasizes the value of the State of Israel as a home for every Jew around the world, regardless of their level of observance or involvement in Jewish life. At the end of this year-long journey, the participants travel to Israel to celebrate their Bar or Bat Mitzvah in Jerusalem.
