This link opens up a workshop for Bat Mitzvah girls and their mothers that involves text study, song, the creation of blessings, ritual, and tzedakah as a way to welcome girls into the Jewish women’s experience in a way that fosters open communication between mothers and daughters and acknowledges the challenges of adolescence. Shared by Reform feminist teacher and spiritual leader, Rabbi Sue Levi Elwell, this lengthy article includes an introduction to the program, created by Ma’yan, the Jewish Women’s Project of the JCC of Manhattan, as well as a thorough outline of each of the 7 components of the workshop. This workshop was shared on Ritualwell, a project of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College that provides a platform for creating new Jewish practices and observances.Â
