Chanting of Moroccan Azharot

This 10 minute long video presents a Moroccan chanting of Azharot (lit. exhortations), didactic liturgical poems enumerating the 613 commandments traditionally chanted by Sephardic Jews on Shavuot. There have been numerous Azharot written by poets going back to the days of the Geonim until approximately 1500. The most common Azharot today are by Rabbi Solomon Ibn Gabirol, recited by most Sephardic/Eastern communities, and by Rabbi Isaac Ben Reuben Albargeloni, recited by the North African communities of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya.
