Medley of Traditional Hebrew Purim Songs

1) MisheNichnas Adar (00:00)

When Adar arrives we increase our joy.

MisheNichnas Adar marbim b’simcha.

משנכנס אדר מרבין בשמחה

2) VeNahafoch Hu (01:46)

And the tables were turned, so that the Jews prevailed over their enemies

Ve’nahafoch hu, asher yishletu haYehudim hemah besonayhem.

ונהפוך הוא אשר ישלטו היהודים המה בשונאיהם

3) Chag Purim (02:12)

The festival of Purim, the festival of Purim, a great festival for the Jews. Masks and noisemakers, songs and dancing. Let’s make noise – noise, noise, noise – with noisemakers.

Chag Purim, Chag Purim, chag gadol la Yehudim. Masechot v’raashanim, zemirot v’rakadim. Hava narisha, raash, raash, raash. Hava narisha – raash, raash, raash – b’raashanim.

4) Vayehi Bimei Achshverosh (02:52)

5) Ad Delo Yada (03:53)

A person is obligated to drink on Purim until they cannot differentiate.

6) Et Haman Talu (04:12)

Haman was hanged on a tall tree.

את המן תלו על עץ גבוה

7) U’Mordechai Yatza (04:24)

And Mordechai went out from the King in royal clothes, and a golden crown. And for the Jews there was light, and gladness, and joy and honor.

The rose of Jacob was cheerful and joyous when they saw together the royal blue of Mordechai’s [robe]. You have been their everlasting redemption, and their hope in every generation. Blessed is Mordechai the Jew.
