Tel Aviv-Jaffa: History & Nowadays
Tel Aviv, the first Hebrew City and Israel’s economic, technological, and cultural center, sprung from the ancient roots of the adjacent city of Jaffa. The historic narrow passageways of the biblical port city became overcrowded in the late 19th century, leading to the development of Tel Aviv as we know it. Both cities have transformed dramatically throughout history, as the sand dunes of Tel Aviv blossomed into a bustling global metropolis and ancient Jaffo grew into a diverse cultural melting pot with a unique demographic composition. From the historic KKL-JNF House to the urban oasis of Yarkon Park, KKL-JNF is dedicated to preserving the city’s rich heritage and creating a greener future for all of its residents and visitors.
