Tel Aviv Then & Now

Tel Aviv Then & Now

The first three pages of this edition of Tel Aviv University’s Kesher Journal present an overview of Tel Aviv’s history from its inception as a “homestead society” in 1906 to the bustling urban center it is today. World-renowned Zionism scholar Yosef Gorny addresses the questions of whether Tel Aviv has succeeded or failed at meeting the vision of Meir Dizengoff, one of the city’s key founders, and others who sought to establish a modern, aesthetic settlement outside the crowded city of Jaffa promoting peaceful co-existence between Jews and Arabs.
