This post includes the Hebrew, English and transliterated texts for Shalom Aleichem according to Nusach Sefard. Nusaf Sefard refers to the various forms of the Jewish prayers designed to reconcile Ashkenazi customs with the customs of Rabbi Isaac Luria, “The Ari,” a foremost Kabbalist (Jewish mystic) living in Tsfat in the 16th century. Distinct from Ashkenazi tradition where only four stanzas are recited, this version adds Psalm 91:11 and 121:8 after Shalom Aleichem, beginning with “Ki Malachav.” According to this tradition, used today by almost all Hasidic communities as well as some other Ashkenazi traditions, each of the first four verses is repeated three times, and the additional verse at the end is only recited once. In the Hebrew and transliteration of the final verse, the name of God is written as Hashem instead of Adonai, in order to avoid using God’s name in vain, outside of formal blessings and prayers

Peace unto you, ministering angels, messengers of the Most High, of the supreme King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He.
