This link will open up a digitized version of “The Sabbath Prayer Book,” the first Reconstructionist siddur to have entered the public domain, arranged and translated by Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan, the founder of the Reconstructionist movement. The complete Kabbalat Shabbat service can be seen from page 34-59, followed by the Ma’ariv evening prayers. The Psalms and hymns of the traditional Kabbalat Shabbat service are preceded by a selection of biblical quotes and a meditation focusing on the significance of Shabbat, designed to spiritually prepare the worshipper for the rest of the service. This resource was brought to the public by The Open Siddur Project, an initiative that aims to liberate the creative content of Jewish spiritual practice as a collectively shared resource for students, scholars, artists, and educators to adopt, adapt, and redistribute.
