This 16 minute long video by Rabbi Eli Garfinkel demonstrates how to sing the traditional Ashkenazi Kabbalat Shabbat service, with Hebrew, English and transliterated texts to follow along. He uses many melodies that are popular in North American Conservative synagogues. Whereas some hymns are sung in their entirety, in many cases only select lines are sung aloud, as is the tradition in many synagogues. In this video, only those verses that are sung aloud are presented. Rabbi Garfinkel is the rabbi of the Conservative Temple Beth El of Somerset, NJ. Â
