This 3 page long program outline contains thorough instructions for the program moderator, including the aims of the activity, the required equipment, and a description of the four steps. It details how long each step should take and explains how to use all of the accompanying resources.
Vision Wall Poster
The activity begins with a trigger exercise using this poster. It presents thought-provoking quotes from world leaders and famous personalities throughout history, as well as space for participants to add their own original quotes.
These eighteen cards present thought-provoking quotes from world leaders and famous personalities throughout history, including JF Kennedy, Nelson Mandela, J.K. Rowling and Golda Meir. In Stage 1 of the activity, these cards are spread out on the floor and participants are asked to choose a statement with which they identify and explain it to the rest of the group. This portion of the activity introduces participants to the visions of outstanding leaders and encourages them to develop their own views.
Personal Vision Exercise
In English and Hebrew, this writing activity encourages participants to identify and develop their own personal visions and what steps need to be taken in order to bring them to fruition. In Stage 2 of the activity, the moderator will facilitate a group discussion about this topic, summarized with this exercise.
In English and Hebrew, these cards introduce each of the eleven controversial topics explored in this activity, including Brexit, granting asylum to refugees, and the Disengagement. In Stage 3 of the activity, the participants will be divided into small groups. Each group will research the topic they have been assigned and prepare a short speech presenting one side of the dilemma. A representative of each group will present the speech, after which the entire group will debate the topic and vote if they are “for” or “against.” This is the main portion of the activity, and an opportunity for participants to learn more about the complex social, moral and political dilemmas that leaders have faced throughout history.
